"One of the most unique and talented practitioners of natural healing and herbalism"
Matthew Wood, MS (Herbal Medicine), RH (American Herbalist Guild)
Thank you for allowing me to support your healing and wellness journey.
Our vision is to empower people with chronic health conditions to work with us to self-heal
naturally and to promote optimal wellness through phytotherapy.
I coined the term – Holistic Vitality™, a concept I teach to help others achieve vitality in body, mind, and soul, to support high-purpose living. The objective is also to teach the public to overcome the challenges of ageing – longevity with soul work.
We invite you to join our mission and become part of a community of like-minded people, and
help others.
May you be blessed with peace and health.

Director, Sebastian Liew Centre Pte Ltd
After graduating from the Singapore Polytechnic with a diploma in Engineering (1982), I pursued a corporate career in various multinational companies. Despite a relatively successful career in the corporate world, I felt a deep sense of discontentment. I could not handle the never-ending office politics. Working daily in the office was like going to war. I felt the emptiness in my heart had worsened over the years, so much so, I was on anti-depressants for some time. I finally got down on my knees and started praying for God’s guidance and direction. “Surely, God does not want me to be in this situation. I don’t think I want to live like this anymore.” I had thought.
I soon started to do research and took courses in various holistic therapies, such as spa therapy, reflexology, aromatherapy, touch therapy, and nutrition. Despite my passion and interest in these fields, I was not prepared to give up my full-time managerial position and a good salary. Besides, I was the sole breadwinner in my family. I needed to support the physical, financial, and emotional needs of my elderly parents then. How could I give up my lucrative job?
"You are such a trailblazer, doing absolutely fantastic, groundbreaking work."
— Complementary Medical Association (CMA) Interview
Dr Sebastian Liew reflects on the potential role of medicinal plants in complementary care through a patient story, while emphasising a whole-person approach to health. Phytotherapy should be considered with individual assessment, attention to safety and medication interactions, and alongside appropriate medical care—not as a replacement for it.
Sebastian LiewSebastian Liew is a Singapore-based medical herbalist (University of New England) and Doctor of Naturopathy who has devoted more than two decades to the practice, teaching, and advancement of holistic health and Western herbal medicine. Practising since 1999, Sebastian was the first Australian-accredited medical herbalist practising in Singapore. His life’s work has grown from a simple but enduring conviction: within every person lies an “Inner Doctor” — an innate capacity for healing, adaptation, resilience, and renewal.
Rather than seeing health merely as the absence of disease, Sebastian believes that true healing is about helping people rediscover vitality, meaning, and the ability to participate actively in their own wellbeing.
His approach integrates the wisdom of traditional Western herbal medicine with naturopathic principles and contemporary understanding of health. Over the years, his clinical experience has led him to develop the concept of Holistic Vitality and the 7 Terrains — a framework that looks beyond symptoms to the wider internal and external conditions that influence a person’s capacity to heal and flourish.
His work has received recognition both locally and internationally. American herbalist Matthew Wood described him as one of the most unique and talented practitioners of natural healing and herbalism. Sebastian serves on the teaching faculty of the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism and is an international speaker, trainer, and author of three books.
His professional recognition includes the Hildegard Prize, awarded for his contribution to promoting European Hildegard medicine in Asia; Singapore’s SME 500 2022 and Entrepreneur 100 awards; and the Natural Medicine Specialist Award from Global Health & Pharma (UK) in 2018, 2019, and 2021.
He has also been featured in the eighth edition of Britishpedia – Successful People in Singapore and Malaysia. Yet Sebastian sees these achievements not as the purpose of his work, but as milestones along a much larger journey.
For him, healing is ultimately a ministry of service.
His vision is to help create a Culture of Healing — a society in which people do not wait until they become patients before taking responsibility for their health. Through education, herbal medicine, lifestyle, and the cultivation of what he calls the 7 Terrains, he hopes to help people remain healthier, more resilient, purposeful, and engaged throughout life.
The role of the practitioner is not merely to fight disease, but to help create the conditions in which that Inner Doctor can work.
At the heart of Sebastian’s lifelong vocation are three aspirations:
For Sebastian Liew, holistic medicine is therefore more than a profession. It is a calling — to help people create a Culture of Healing and live with greater vitality, meaning, hope, and purpose.
Doctor of Naturopathy is not a medical or dental qualification.
