Course Description
The twelfth-century healer and mystic Hildegard of Bingen noted, “A man who only lives to eat and drink will often be sick and indisposed, whereas he (she) who controls himself (herself) around food and drink will have good blood and a healthy body”.
Many scientists believe that longevity is not affected as much by toxic components in the diet as by the amount of food consumed. Excessive eating increases the number of body resources utilised to digest the food and hence lowers the resources available for the body to rid itself of abnormal cells, such as cancer.
The virtue of moderation is considered the most essential principle whether you are pursuing a vegetarian, organic, or meat-based diet. You can be a complete vegetarian and eat organic foods every day. But if you indulge excessively and do not exercise, have poor digestion, spiritual void, and poor lifestyle practices, you will still not be healthy.
In fact, by eating in moderation, you would not need to count calories; your body would achieve balance by itself.
Therefore, it is my opinion that if there is a simple principle you could adopt for wellness, it would be moderation – in eating, sleeping, sex, playing, studying, working, drinking, and expressing one’s feelings.
Moderation will lead you to a healthy body, mind, and soul, i.e. holistic vitality.
The Leaf to Life ® Holistic Vitality Diet created by Dr. Sebastian Liew, is inspired by the Mount Athos diet pattern, St. Hildegard’s medicine, the philosophy of naturopathy, and the spiritual principle of moderate living. It is backed by modern scientific research on healthy ageing and a time-tested ancient dietary pattern practised by Christian monks in Mount Athos (Greece) nearly 2000 years ago.
The HV diet is designed for;
- Healthy ageing
- Prevention of chronic lifestyle-related diseases
- Support for a healthy immune response
- Support an anti-inflammatory diet
- Support for healthy allergy response
